For this project, I was assigned to illustrate icons for a fictional exhibit. My exhibit is called Kabuto Chronicles, which showcases a variety of ancient Samurai helmets and their history. Along with the illustrations, I also designed the logo for Kabuto Chronicles.
I began the process of Kabuto Chronicles by finding elements that communicate both ancient and Japanese themes. I chose Samurai helmets to illustrate the fierceness of samurais in ancient Japan. To maintain the traditional theme, I selected the traditional Japanese colors of navy blue, red, and gold.
After completing the illustrations, I chose a typeface that matched the fierceness and rigidity of the designs. Additionally, I incorporated traditional Japanese calligraphy to enhance the overall feel of the exhibit.
